Metaswitch is looking for an experienced senior engineering manager to grow and lead our European Rhino engineering team, based in Edinburgh, UK. Rhino is a leading platform for building telephony applications and is already widely deployed at 75+ mobile operators worldwide at all scales. Microsoft’s acquisition of Metaswitch is a catalyst for substantial growth of our Rhino product, and planned engineering-led initiatives include:
integrating Rhino with a range of Microsoft’s existing offerings and processes
supporting a partner-first sales strategy for the platform, involving training and technical enablement of those partners
developing additional applications and capabilities on top of Rhino.
Metaswitch’s Rhino engineering currently spans three locations – Edinburgh UK, Madrid Spain and Wellington New Zealand. This role involves running the Edinburgh and Madrid engineering teams, and working closely with the New Zealand team.
Lead and coach an existing team of software engineers and managers; create clarity, communicate vision and strategy to the team; provide expert guidance and advice, best practices and trainings, nurture a team culture with emphasis on quality, customer obsession, engineering agility, and inclusiveness
Integrate the current Edinburgh and Madrid teams more closely together
Work hand-in-glove with the New Zealand engineering team, with an emphasis on communication, knowledge sharing and consistency in engineering approaches and finding and leveraging synergies between the teams
Drive adoption of Microsoft policies and processes within the team
Work with program management and other stakeholders to create robust product roadmaps and engineering plans, trading off quality, security, customer satisfaction, cost and timescales, and ensure the team executes on these plans
Consistently identify, reward and manage growth of highly performing engineering talent and help all team members achieve the most in their careers
Substantially grow the team, ensuring diverse viewpoints and capabilities needed to achieve current and future business objectives
Lead the continuous improvement of engineering and quality practices. Work across business groups to ensure the long-term integrity of a product area. Demonstrate personal commitment to technical advancement. Guide the organization to deliver high-quality and innovative solutions
Communicate team plans and strategies to peers, stakeholders and organization leaders
