We are seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team in Eden Prairie, MN. This role is not remote. This is a night shift position working 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Thursday through Saturday and every other Wednesday.

The Systems Administrator - Patching position serves as a technical resource to support the company within its owned and operated data centers and managed customer environments. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center and managed service operations. The company’s deployed data centers are offered as Cloud services to customers in conjunction with technology managed service, MPLS, Ethernet, IP, and Transport network offerings.

Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for carrying out routine maintenance during standard off-hours maintenance windows as required including hardware, software and firmware upgrades as defined by Management

  • Support, operate, and maintain datacenter infrastructure systems servicing US Signal Multi-tenant, Cloud Computing and managed service customers

  • Working with Systems Engineers to ensure successful maintenance completion

  • Managing and operating an enterprise class datacenter/infrastructure environment and IT service provider environment:

  • Storage: EMC, Dell, 3par, NetApp SAN

  • Server Systems: Dell, Cisco

  • Network: Dell, Cisco, Arista

  • Software

  • VMware’s vSphere

  • Data Replication and Backup platforms

  • Microsoft Server Technologies

  • Linux OS and variants

  • Firewall platforms

  • Network monitoring platforms

  • Engage vendor technical support for hardware or software problems

Required Experience:

Competencies:

  • Experience in a data center environment:

  • Deploying and operating Linux or other UNIX variants

  • Server hardware management across multiple vendors

  • Security best practices in server configuration, tool development, and access controls

  • Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server, and WSUS; PowerShell a plus

  • Operating common enterprise switching and routing, and firewall platforms

  • Proficiency in TCP/IP networking, architecture and core technologies (DNS, HTTP(S), Routing, etc.)

  • In-depth understanding of virtualization with practical experience in at least one hypervisor; with preference given to VMware’s vSphere

  • Excellent customer service focus, customer communication skills, and experience exceeding customer expectations

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and documentation skills

  • Possess superb troubleshooting and problem analysis skills

  • Recognize and adopt best practices in documentation, testing, security, operational support at scale, and efficient use of resources

Education:

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Networking or Computer Science preferred.

Experience:

Experience with Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. Extensive experience with the Microsoft Office platform, Visio, and scripting.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

This position operates in a variety of environments. The majority of the time is spent in a professional office environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Required License(s)/Certification(s):

VCP, CCNA, MCSE: Cloud Platform & Infrastructure is a plus. Valid, active driver’s license with a good driving record as defined by the Company’s current insurance provider.
