We are currently seeking intern/co-op candidates to learn with us as they engage in a variety of hands-on projects alongside our high-performing and authentic R&D team. Position Summary The Research and Development Engineering Co-op role is aimed at developing the skills of engineers and researchers in the field of medical device development. The goal of the program is to provide a structure where participants are introduced to the equipment, methods, and concepts of interventional cardiology, clinical outcomes, and device design/development. The student will report directly to the System Engineering group manager and work with the Research Engineering Team on characterization methods, basic technology research, prototype development, and group brainstorming/problem-solving session related to medical devices used by interventional cardiologists and radiologists. Projects may make use of skills including using state-of-the-art test equipment, researching scientific and clinical literature, executing testing, preparing reports, architecting, and prototyping medical devices. Interns will develop knowledge and experience in the following: Medical Device design and development including design inputs, verification, quality documentation System Engineering Concepts International Standards and Regulations Requirement Management Tools Concepts of Data Acquisition Statistical Analysis and Hypothesis Testing. Responsibilities: Support principal engineer on active jobs Complete assigned research projects Test fixture fabrication Test execution and data collection Reporting; technical reports, manuscripts, abstracts, posters Training to be Provided Students will be exposed to working with various operations and product support departments within Bracco Medical Technologies (BMT). They will learn key requirements that need to be followed in a regulated environment such as the medical device industry. Training may cover relevant aspects of medical device development procedures, along with more specific aspects related to BMT products. Additionally, our interns and co-ops benefit from a buddy program, career development programming, and opportunities to build their professional networks virtually and in-person with BMT professionals. Qualifications: Minimum Currently pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, or closely related field (Only candidates with at least 2 years of study toward a bachelor's will be considered) Preferred Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of principles of engineering and mechanical design Knowledge of principles of data acquisition and study design Lab testing or research experience. Ability to establish lear priorities and multi-task in a high-volume setting responsive to externally generated deadlines.
