Mechanical Engineer - Energy and Sustainability (Remote) Requisition ID: 36905 Job Location(s): Eden Prairie, MN, US Chicago, US Freeport, IL, US Ames, IA, US Cleveland, Oh, OH, US Job Description Danfoss is seeking a passionate Energy Manager in US to manage our growing portfolio of energy supply and renewable energy projects. The candidate has experience managing the implementation of energy projects, plus deep knowledge of the US electricity and biofuel market. Experience with electricity and renewable energy contracts, REC management, and overall energy management solutions at facilities is highly valued. The Energy Manager must be up to date on industry energy consumption trends and evolving technologies to ensure Danfoss is implementing the most efficient solutions. You will report to the Head of North American Real Estate, work hand-in-hand with our global Energy Efficiency department and will play a meaningful role as part of a top-notch team of global energy and sustainability professionals who are driving value for Danfoss. This role is eligible to any candidate located close to a major airport (preference for central and eastern time zones). Job Responsibilities Lead the implementation of an innovative renewable energy strategy focused on providing solutions for Danfoss to fully decarbonize our operations by 2030. Lead identification and implementation of energy-saving technologies, conducting energy consumption assessments and ensuring facilities are performing at optimum energy efficiency levels. Collaborating on energy audits Developing and implementing energy management plans and programs. Collaborate on development of energy management services and contribute to offer development and rollout of various new initiatives in US in collaboration with Real Estate Corporate team. Project manage third party suppliers providing associated services in engineering, procurement, and construction mechanical heating and cooling systems, qualified supply contract management, customer billing and administration, ongoing operations & maintenance, and any other related tasks. Manage contractual relationships and coordinate with legal, as needed, to assist with contract negotiations and to resolve programmatic needs/requirements. Follow energy regulatory frameworks and assess the impact of potential changes on existing power contracts and new leads. Interface and develop strong working relationships with various regional internal and external partners to ensure the Energy and Sustainability team brings value to our business. Identifying and analyzing energy usage data and trends. Provide routine reporting on program KPIs, implementation, savings, financial, and operating metrics. Build and maintain strong relationship / interactions with our Global Real Estate Team members and Real Estate Colleagues in other regions. Educating and training Real Estate team on energy efficiency initiatives and best practices. Be a dedicated and passionate business partner between the GS Real Estate organization towards the business, ensuring adding value towards our stakeholders as an organization. Effective stakeholder management, maintaining positive relationships with regional and plant leadership. Ambassador of Danfoss and GS Real Estate business model with a strong service-minded approach Support Danfoss Global Strategies / Programs (ESG, FWoW, Branding, OneFM, PlanOn, GetXX Savings, etc.). Background & Skills Bachelor's degree or higher Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification LEED accreditation 8+ years of experience in energy markets, energy trading, power contract negotiations, energy regulations, renewable development, or energy generation technologies Strong project management skills. Strong understanding of electricity and biofuel market design, federal and state regulatory rules and issues, tariff structur s, renewable energy, incentives, and environmental commodities Full knowledge and understanding of the US Energy market and associated regulatory / law frameworks. Proficiency in English languages in verbal and written formats Experience building relationships and working with industry stakeholders, such as retail suppliers / load serving entities, utilities, regional power planning agencies, and renewable OEMs. Knowledge of energy management strategies ranging from data collection and management to decarbonization solutions such as energy efficiency, renewables, and offsets. Demonstrated ability to innovate and get creative to develop executable projects. A history of collaboration, problem solving and communication that drives overall team success. Able to travel up to 30% of the time.
