The Salvation Army Northwest Division Summer Timberlake Junior Counselor in Eatonville, Washington
SEASONAL POSITION: To assist a counselor with the supervision and programming for a group of assigned campers to gain as much experience as possible in all phases of camp counseling and assist in other departments as necessary. All positions are meant to support the mission of Camp Arnold, in word and deed, to teach campers about Jesus Christ. Salary: $185.00 per week. GENERAL DUTIES: 1. Attend and participate in all camp programs and spiritual activities. 2. Maintain standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters. 3. Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer. 4. Assist with other duties as needed. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Safety and Supervision 1. Enforce camp policies and procedures 2. Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times. 3. Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times. 4. Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion. Weekly Responsibilities: 1. Assist Counselor in providing leadership, care and guidance of a group of assigned campers on a daily basis. 2. Be an active participant in the initial cabin meeting for your assigned cabin group. 3. Assist with supervision of assigned camper group while in the dining room. 4. Assist with daily clean up of the cabin living area. 5. Plan and conduct one cabin devotion per week. 6. Check camper beds each morning in the event of a bed wetting. 7. If evidence of a bed wetting is found, follow procedures to wash bedding and clean mattress in the most caring and discrete manner possible. 8. Assist with leadership in the various program areas as assigned and coordinate your preparation with the Unit Leader. 9. Accompany assigned camper group to all camp activities that are planned for their involvement. 10. Complete any required forms as may be related to camper or program evaluation, or health documentation. 11. Complete the daily entries required in the Camper Log book as needed throughout the day. Attend Weekly Camp Out unless given the specific permission otherwise. 12. Assist with other duties as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. 2. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead. 3. Ability to operate telephone. 4. Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer. 5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 6. Ability to access and produce information from a computer. 7.
