Reference #: 4409410 THE POSITION As a leading Organization in the Maintenance of Pennsylvania's Highways, the Department of Transportation, Engineering District 5, Northampton County paint crew is seeking a full-time CDL Equipment Operator A, to provide line painting services for multiple areas and provide winter maintenance support.  This is an exciting career opportunity that you don't want to miss out on!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK You will be responsible for operating a truck-mounted highway pavement marking machine according to the Pavement Marking Handbook and Subchapter K - Marking Book. You will perform a variety of duties associated with the operation of a truck mounted highway pavement marking machine. You will operate a remote right or left pavement line paint gun such that the proper application of single and double paint lines is maintained. Monitoring pressure gauges, meters, and other indicators during work and reacting appropriately is essential. Completing pre-and post-operations checks daily in compliance with Department and legal regulations is mandatory. Performing flagger duties for traffic control when not operating equipment is part of the responsibilities. Engaging in manual labor tasks using various hand tools and reporting missing or damaged equipment is expected. Additional tasks include snow plowing. Making field adjustments for safe operation, conducting minor repairs, and preventative maintenance on equipment is also required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment. Work hours vary from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Dual shifts, travel, and overtime may be required.  Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program employed by the Commonwealth of PA; or

Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed. Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Conditions of Employment:

All employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders within the probationary period. Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment. Certain positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission. This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
