Large Power Systems Division (LPSD):
Large Engines and Drivetrain Operations has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering position within the Drivetrain Assembly Planning team located in East Peoria, Illinois. The Manufacturing Engineer role is an important function within KK assembly planning team, with a focus on technical process support for assembly velocity requirements.
The Manufacturing Engineers function as a specialist and subject matter expert for technical planning capable of meeting and or exceeding customer requirements. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise required to design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes/systems related to Assembling of Transmission flowlines. In this role you will work both independently and as part of a team to maintain and improve processes and systems used in manufacturing.
What You Will Do (including but not limited to):
Engage in creative problem solving to address operational issues including ergonomic/ safety, capacity improvements, process inefficiencies and quality concerns through disciplined problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis.
Improve productivity, efficiency and throughput while eliminating waste by utilizing lean concepts and tools.
Provides manufacturing technical support for continuously improving capability aligned to in process validations, state or the art process controls aligned to quality certification requirements.
Develops innovative solutions to complex manufacturing production problems through identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes.
Develops cost justifications to support the procurement/implementation of new assembly equipment and process for capital/expense items.
Coordinates the procurement, processing, installation and validation of assembly tools, process controls and related equipment while ensuring the latest technology is being utilized to increase efficiency and production of operations.
Works with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.
Administers assembly NPI roadmap process to ensure programs are processed on time aligned to program requirements.
Analyze current product designs, assembly procedures, facilities layout, and material flow to enhance processes to improve production capabilities that results in a more cost-efficient manufacturing process.
Education:
Degree or equivalent experience desired
Skill Descriptors:
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Manufacturing Processes: Extensive Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
Manufacturing Safety: Extensive Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Extensive Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
Judgment and Decision Making: Working Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
Lean Manufacturing: Working Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
Manufacturing Equipment: Working Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them.
Problem Management Process - MFG: Working Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.
