This job opportunity is on the Redshift Builder Experience team that owns and influences how Redshift is built, evaluated and deployed. Redshift Builder Experience team works at the intersection of developer tooling, scaled test frameworks, and distributed systems to improve the pace of innovation and delivery for Redshift organization. We are searching for a Sr. Software Development Engineer with passion for building large-scale, highly available applications that improve developer productivity. As a Sr. Software Development Engineer, in Redshift Builder Experience, you will own and lead projects that deliver tools and infrastructure used to develop, test, and build Redshift. You will own our overall strategy for an area to drive engineering productivity, deliver quality and security, streamline builds and deployments, and spearhead the organization’s best practices. You will automate critical operational functions so thousands of servers across all AWS regions operate smoothly at massive scale and at lowest cost.

Key job responsibilities

As a Sr Software Development Engineer on Redshift Builder Experience you will lead architecture and development of infrastructure services at the intersection of developer tooling, scaled test frameworks, and distributed systems to improve the pace of innovation and delivery for Redshift organization. You will meticulously review and drive design choices, trade-offs, priorities and timelines. As a hands-on practitioner you will lead by example and mentor and inspire other engineers and leaders, participate in defining our engineering culture, and help to build a fast growing and highly motivated team. You are data and metric driven, and obsessively concerned about performance within resource constrained environments. An ideal candidate would obsess over customer needs, operational excellence, evaluate system performance, security, design system metrics and driving quality improvements.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
