Michigan State University(MSU) Assistant Professor Health Programs in East Lansing, Michigan

Position Summary

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking an MD/DO qualified physician to provide inpatient services at a department-affiliated hospital on a new geropsychiatry unit, and outpatient psychiatric services within MSU's outpatient clinic and department-affiliated Community Mental Health agency.  The individual selected will also provide clinical supervision to residents and medical students and teach medical courses within the Colleges of Human Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine.  The effort breakdown is as follows:

  • Inpatient services at a department-affiliated hospital on a geropsychiatry unit (50% time)
  • Outpatient services at MSU's outpatient clinic and the department-affiliated Community Mental Health agency (40%)
  • Teaching resident seminars and/or medical student courses (10%)

Required Degree

Doctorate -General Psychiatry/Geropsychiatry

Minimum Requirements
  • Board certified or eligible MD or DO degree
  • Eligible for a physician license in the state of Michigan
  • Demonstrate a history of clinical responsibilities
  • Possess excellent communication skills
Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of Geropsychiatry fellowship
  • Strong interest working in an academic setting (University, teaching hospital, etc.)
  • Prior experience supervising residents and/or medical students
