Michigan State University Assistant Instructor-Fixed Term in East Lansing, Michigan
Position Summary
The successful candidate will serve as an Assistant Instructor for undergraduate courses within the Civil and Environmental Engineering disciplines. This role involves mentoring students and acting as a technical liaison, guiding them through various civil and/or environmental engineering topics. Responsibilities may include delivering lectures and/or lab sessions that actively engage students pursuing civil and environmental engineering majors.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
Coordinating with the primary instructor of record and technical liaisons in specialized areas such as transportation, hydrological, pavement, environmental.
Assisting students with developing and refining details for required deliverable activities
Managing grading, help room hours, and weekly review sessions
Overseeing course resources on platforms like D2L and MS Teams
Supporting student learning through various instructional activities as requested by the instructor of record or curriculum coordinator.
The candidate is expected to work effectively with diverse student groups to enhance students academic experience and support their learning journey.

Required Degree
Bachelors -Engineering or related field
Desired Degree
Masters -Engineering or related field
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.
Teaching experience.
Applicants must have strong oral and written communication skills.
Applicants are expected to work well in a team setting and be highly self-motivated.
Desired Qualifications
Ph.D. or Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering;
Five years combined experience in teaching and research for related field.
