What You Will Do:

Core Manufacturing Engineering in the Operational Excellence organization is hiring a Product Manufacturing Engineer to support the analysis for manufacturing readiness for Pratt & Whitney’s 6th Generation war fighter propulsion system.

The selected candidate will be integrated with the Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams and will act as the liaison between engineering, program, and operations. Using Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) standard work, this employee will be identifying and mitigating manufacturing and operational risk of various configurations and technology insertion projects and their associated risks.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in a high technology, advanced program environment incorporating the latest manufacturing readiness assessment tools. The ideal candidate will be an experience, proactive, and goal oriented professional to lead MRL execution on critical parts. This resource will have a key role in refining and improving MRL standard work as it applies to early phase programs.

Responsibilities:

  • With specific parts ownership, this role will drive producibility into the design process, ensure source selection includes considerations for manufacturing such as, quality, cost and delivery performance

  • Leverage the lessons learned from production programs to ensure that development parts are incorporating those to help with improved quality, cost and delivery signatures

  • Provide focused & effective leadership in the advancement of MRL elements to drive manufacturing risk identification and mitigation to achieve superior quality performance

  • As a key member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT), significant interaction with product designers, tool designers, quality assurance, systems designers, and other stakeholders is required

  • The discipline and follow-through to fully document problem statements, observations, conclusions, calculations and recommendations

  • Work with senior management:

  • Support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and CORE initiatives.

  • Schedule and facilitate periodic project reviews and ensure validation of MRL gate advancements. Use effective scorecards and metrics to ensure progress.

  • Represent the organization in various forums related to MRL execution.

  • Communicate lessons learned to:

  • Product development/engineering to enable implementation of design for variation (DFV) and robust design methods (DFSS).

  • Other operational organizations for read across implementation.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (manufacturing, industrial, mechanical) or related technical field

  • 7+ years of experience in operations and manufacturing engineering, 5+ years advanced degree

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in complex manufacturing activities

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, US citizenship is required due to government contracts

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
