F135 Support Equipment (SE) Project Engineers are responsible for developing and maintaining SE used to assemble, disassemble, and inspect the F135 engine. Each Project Engineer is assigned a section of the engine or module and is responsible for all support equipment used in that area of the engine.

You will work remotely but would be required to travel to our East Hartford, CT campus once or twice a month.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather requirements from CIPT hardware engineers or engine maintainers to create new or alter existing support equipment.

  • Submit all requirements in Teamcenter and guiding either SEV (in-house designers) or outsource design vendors during the design process. Check and approve final designs.

  • New designs and design alterations will need to be approved by JPO (Joint Program Office).

  • Approval process requires good communication skills typically in the form of power point presentations that will need to be presented to the customer either in person or through WebEx.

  • Participate in on-site F35 inductions at both unit and depot locations around the world.

  • Support both CONUS and OCONUS depot/unit SE fleet management activities.

  • Answer/respond daily to fielded SE issues (MERLIN or AR). Daily interface with external customers, SE purchasing, SE Fleet Managers, Field Service Representatives (FSR), customer support engineers (CSE), logistic program management and suppliers.

  • The position requires a strong technical skillset and ability to explain SE functions and designs to a non-technical audience.

  • Support Engineering Investigations (EI) when SE fails, determining root cause and implementing corrective action using CORE standard practices.

  • Support machines shops during new SE builds or repairs. Answering design and build questions during the fabrication process in the form of SRIs (Supplier Request for Information).

  • Author new or update existing JTD (Joint Technical Data). JTD is the technical instructions on how support equipment is used for F135 assembly/disassembly. Project Engineers are responsible JTD at Unit level, Depot, CONUS and OCONUS sites.

  • Programs commonly used by F135 Project Engineers: Teamcenter, Doc Access, Documentum Data Management System (DDM), Unigraphics (Nx10), SAP, WebTop, RITS, PW Look, Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP), MERLIN.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline is required.

  • A minimum of 5+ years of engineering experience is required.

  • At least 2+ years of design/fabrication of machined components

  • At least 2+ years of blueprints and creating designs

  • US Citizenship is required due to government contracts.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with military engine equipment

  • Working knowledge of Unigraphics or Solid works

  • Creative and analytical thinker with ability for problem solving

  • Self- motivated and strong work ethic

  • Ability to operate in a continually changing business environment with dynamic job responsibilities
