HealthFitness Physical Therapy Assistant (part-time) in East Hanover, New Jersey

HealthFitness has an exciting opportunity for a part-time, (20 hours per week), Physical Therapy Assistant at our client site located in East Hanover, NJ. This is a great position for a physical therapy assistant looking for a challenging, innovative role in which they may utilize their creativity, skills, experience and expertise in orthopedics, injury prevention, and wellness at the worksite.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, flexible hours

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assists licensed Physical therapist in performing elements of the evaluation or assessment process, including supporting objective tests and functional assessment on patients.

  • Administers the plan of care under the supervision of the treating physical therapist; such as therapeutic exercise, physical agents, mobilizations, manual therapy, and other treatment methods as indicated by the Physical Therapist’s plan of care. Documentation needs to be complete, accurate, and done on a timely basis, and with HIPAA and PHI contents consistent with QA standards and insurance needs.

  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information, records and conversations.

  • Organizes daily work schedule to maintain optimal patient care and documentation and notify appropriate personnel where additional help is needed; utilizes off-peak time for program and self-development.

  • Prepares treatment area and equipment ensuring patient dignity, personal care, cleanliness and security.

  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.Attends and participates in staff meetings, departmental in-services, clinical research and presentation of findings; both planning and delivery.

  • Assists in phone answering, patient registration, scheduling, folding towels and other general clinic duties as requested.

  • Other duties as needed/assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in PTA from an accredited program is required.

  • Active and valid Physical Therapy Assistant license for the State of New Jersey.

  • Current Adult First Aid and CPR/AED certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute by start date; if not current, required within 30 days of hire.

  • 2+ years previous Experience in assisting with assessment and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal disorders, worker’s comp, ergonomics, workstation evaluations, and exercise and fitness is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.

  • Professionalism and the ability to communicate/build rapport well with patients and team members both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Applicants must meet hiring requirements including but not limited to pre-employment drug test.
