Responsibilities
The X-Ray Technician is responsible for patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed health care provider.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of x-ray procedures as directed by a licensed healthcare provider such as positioning patients, taking radiographs, applying correct techniques.
Obtains quality diagnostic radiographic as requested by licensed healthcare provider. (As quickly as exam/patient condition will allow. Keeping a repeat rate of 2% or less)
Uses radiation protection and shielding materials when required.
Maintain and monitor radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients, staff, and compliance with government regulatory requirements including rotating radiation badges
Reviews for quality and accuracy of x-ray images
Ensures that all equipment follows state regulations, maintained, and documented, in good working order and clean
Liaison between patients, physicians, and medical support staff. Demonstrating a caring and professional manner to make patients feel comfortable.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive
Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per
Order and maintain proper inventory of radiologic supplies.
Assist Ortho Techs as needed with removal of splints and braces.
Assist physician as needed in back office duties including rooming patients, taking vital signs and patient history.
Assist patient with wheelchairs as needed.
Perform associated clerical tasks including scheduling, filing, records requests.
Always maintain professional appearance and personal conduct.

Physical Requirements:
The duties of this job require frequent sitting, standing, walking and occasional squatting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching motions in positioning patients for exams. Positions requires occasionally lifting to 50 pounds with or without mechanical aids. The position requires manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operation of radiology equipment, computer keyboard, calculator, telephone, and other office equipment, as necessary. Position requires continuous viewing and typing on computers and use of the telephone. Vision and hearing must be within normal range.
Mental/Emotional Demands:
Mental activities necessary for this position include concentration, organization, multi-tasking, problem solving, stress control, dependability, and both verbal and written communication skills. This position involves frequent contact with staff and patients. Work may be stressful and busy at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Position requires maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
Work Environment:
Work in a radiology department setting which includes working with and around x-ray equipment. Exposure to ionizing radiation, communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to medical clinic environment s possible. Work is intermittently performed in an office setting, well lighted and ventilated, with adequate space. Occasional travel may be required to help cover patient care or attend meetings at another location.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or
Completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist or CDPH-RHB approved California Radiologic Technology School
Current certificate of license with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and California Department of Health or CDPH-RHB approved California Radiologic Technology School
Certification/Licensure: CPR certification for Health Care Providers.
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a clinic and/or hospital setting.Skills:

Other Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology to perform x-ray exams.
Knowledge of digital radiology equipment.
Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics and patient movement.
Demonstrate proper skills in positioning patients.
Skilled in identifying equipment problems.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone and in writing.
Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal
Maintain current CPR.
