Job Description Summary

Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, this position will manage operational aspects of commercial and clinical drug product manufacture for Amgen Dun Laoghaire. The role has responsibility will be responsible for overseeing the aseptic filling of drug product manufacturing of syringe products. As part of the Manufacturing Leadership team, the candidate will provide strong management and leadership in the Manufacturing area with a primary focus on safety, while meeting the quality expectations and delivering increased volumes for Amgen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enhance the high standard of safety and quality culture throughout the manufacturing areas, driving awareness, strong mindset and improved metrics.

  • Deliver resource strategies with work force modelling, which coordinate personnel to deliver business requirements over the long term.

  • Manage and build capability to deliver the short and long-term supply plan in accordance with the needs of the business. Implement and champion an effective multi-layered management system to ensure effective communication, escalation, and delivery of the supply plan

  • Recruit, train, and mentor manufacturing management and staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Build a high-performing team with clear performance metrics and development plans.

  • Provide leadership, with direction and clarity across the operation. Enhance collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams, to ensure the success of the site as a whole

  • Drive the reliability of the plant. Oversee response to issues that occur, through effective root cause analysis and implementation of appropriate preventative actions.

  • Support a process for driving continuous improvements and sustained productivity. Initiate and implement innovative and sustainable, plant improvement projects consistent with business strategy.

  • Provide operational expertise and clear requirements for process development and new product introduction projects

  • Clear understanding of departmental budgets. Develop, maintain systems that trend spending, identify cost reduction and justify the department’s budget.

  • Take lead roles, to directly contribute and have ownership of key parts of the departmental and site priorities. Giving direction to cross functional teams, ensuing appropriate resources, project management and systems are in place to deliver on commitments.

  • Other functions may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical Manufacturing positions

  • 4+ years management experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or combination of education and/or years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of managing in an aseptic manufacturing operation, knowledge of aseptic and applicable GMP regulatory guidelines, with a proven ability to apply them.

  • Proven ability through scientific principles, to tackle problems with strong analytical problem-solving skills and lead cross functional teams to deliver on site priorities.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership with the ability to establish common purpose and partner with other departments to deliver on objectives.

  • Direct experience and capability to understand the key priorities for the business, to organise and manage large teams to deliver on those priorities.

  • Strong executive presence with ability to adapt style for communication at different levels of the organisation, including Snr Leadership. Able to provide clear and concise communication, that engages and motivates for successful outcomes.

  • Experience in the development of managers and others, with positive coaching to enhance their capabilities with the needs of the business and for their growth.

  • Proficiency at methods to develop strategies to manage change and support team through transformation on the site.

  • Proven track record of setting clear strategic objectives, allocate resources, managing resources and overcome obstacles to meet targets.
