They've partnered with an esteemed organization to find an experienced Staff Accountant for their team. As a Staff Accountant, you will assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. When it's time for the monthly close, you'll be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. A highly involved position, it works to produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Located in the Durham, North Carolina area, the company offering this challenging long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity provides a thriving environment and rewards effort.
Your responsibilities in this role
Partake in annual closing processes
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Requirements
Deep understanding of account reconciliation
Proven knowledge of Purchase Orders
Credit Card Reconciliation experience
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience required
Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Foundational knowledge in bank reconciliations
Well-founded grasp of QuickBooks
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
Current and relevant ERP system experience
Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
High attention to detail
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
