Occ SummaryPerform a variety of police duties in enforcing laws to protect livesand Duke University property.Work PerformedPerform a variety of police duties in patrolling assigned area on footor in police car to detect crime andto arrest violators; patrol parking lots, outlying Universityproperties and University buildings to ensuretheir security.Regulate pedestrian and vehicular traffic; investigate trafficaccidents and file preliminary accidentreport; check all automobiles on University property for improperparking, overtime parking and displayof University registration decal; issue tickets for vehicularviolations.Provide emergency ambulance service and temporary first-aid treatmentto members of the Universitycommunity and to visitors; provide emergency escort service to studentsand staff where necessary.Prepare and present testimony in court concerning traffic violations,burglaries and other offenses.Provide information about Duke University to students, staff and thegeneral public.Escort money for various University units upon request.Provide security for special Universityevents.Assist in the training of new public safety officers.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.The above statements describe the general nature and level of workbeing performed by individualsassigned to this classification.This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilitiesand duties required of personnel soclassified.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesN/A
