DESCRIPTION OF WORK As part of this role, you will be involved in inspections throughout all stages of transportation construction work. You will assist in verifying grades, elevations, and stake-outs for structures and roadways in collaboration with contractors and surveyors. Additionally, you will inspect the placement of various materials used in transportation construction, including cement concrete, bituminous concrete, and drainage materials. Your responsibilities will also include conducting compaction testing for sub-surface strata, soils, and aggregates using visual non-movement methods. Furthermore, you will complete and perform project site activity reports, mathematical calculations, item quantity estimates, and all applicable project documentation manually or electronically.  You will also assist in resolving field problems that are encountered.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This is a vendor-controlled position; flex schedule. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirements: This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
