JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for rendering professional advanced emergency care to ill and injured persons in accordance with N.Y.S. W.R.E.MA.C. and WCA Services Medical Directors. Will be able to function as the "in-charge medic" on an ALS vehicle. Is responsible for the safe operation of corporate vehicles. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Must have and maintain current certifications in: + New York State Department of Health AEMT-CC or EMT-P + CPR for the professional Rescuer (AHA or equivalent) + ACLS/ATLS or BTLS/ITLS/PHTLS + Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, which is acceptable to the company's insurance carrier + Credentials must be updated biannually. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to render professional basic emergency care in accordance with N.Y.S Basic protocol standards, and advanced emergency care in accordance with N.Y.S W.R.E.M.A.C. protocol standards. Must attend 25 hours of EMS related continuing education per year. Must obtain PIT Credentialization during orientation. Must maintain credentialing skills as outlined in the Standard Operating Guidelines. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS: Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease, hazardous substances and risk of physical injury from lifting, operation of equipment, and any other work-related incident. Exposure to inclement weather, multiple traumas debilitating injuries, behavioral disorders, and death of patients of all ages may occur. Frequent exposure to these incidents may lead to severe work-related stress. WORK CONTACT GROUP: Frequent contact with physicians, EMS/Fire Personnel (paid or volunteer), police agencies, aeromedical personnel. MTS Division staff, management staff, patients, and families. SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift all patient age groups with weights up to a maximum of 250 pounds, with a partner, consistent with the N.Y.S. DOH and ADA. guidelines. Is required to stand and walk regularly. Must be able to bend, stoop, and crawl on uneven terrain. Starting pay $22.25/hour.
