We currently have vacancies for Scientists within our expanding Gene Therapy team.
The purpose of this role is to carry out scientific test procedures on client samples and produce accurate results within an acceptable time frame using company procedures and also to be responsible for completion of the more technically challenging analysis. This person will also work to develop any ancillary procedures associated with the methods and technical systems used, ensuring customer samples are completed within their required specifications. The Scientist will support complex analytical testing and high knowledge projects.
This person will carry out the non-routine tasks in the laboratory or carry out the particular type(s) of analysis assigned to them, back filling for analysts as required. Other day to day duties of the role include:
Developing and validating new tests and procedures for company and clients, including protocol and report writing.
Technical review of protocols and reports
Completion of specific technological projects and writing up the results of these projects accurately, confidentially and on time for the clients.
Data and documentation review as assigned by management to include test raw data, equipment qualification reports, log book and any other quality documents assigned for review.
Participate in client and regulatory audits, support management by demonstrating our systems and processes to auditors as well as explaining test and support data
Scientists are permitted to sign all technical documents once their training in this task is successfully completed. This includes laboratory reports, SOPs, protocols, investigation reports and any other documentation issued.
Deputising for management as required.
Direct communication with clients in an appropriate manner. Be technical representative on assigned client projects, participate in the project management, project updates, client meeting and business reviews as required.
To liaise closely with the Section Manager to ensure that resources are available to guarantee that testing activities are completed to customer’s timelines.
Review of test methods for quotation purposes.
To identify any opportunities for improvement of quality and service and work with the team to implement continuous improvement.
Degree in Molecular Cell Biology or Immunology
Experience in qPCR, SDS-Page, cell and molecular biology and western blotting
Specific experience in infectivity and potency cell based assays and work with viral vectors.
Experience in method validation desirable
5 years’ experience in a regulated laboratory environment or a Masters plus 3 years’ experience
Good team player, organised, accurate, have strong documentation skills
Passionate about quality and customer service.
Good communication skills both internally and externally.
