We operate full-day early learning and childcare centres for infant, toddler and preschool children, as well as extended-day programs before and after school for kindergarten and school age children in over 30 locations throughout the Greater Hamilton Area.

Who are we Looking For?

We are looking for an RECE Program Leader to compliment our team!

Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the RECE Program Leader is responsible for the ongoing operation of a high quality childcare centre for children ages 12 months to 12 years of age. The Program Leader also provide administrative support to the program.

This position will be at our Dundas Central centre. In this role, you will be scheduled for 31.75 hours a week (including programming and administrative time).

What are we Looking For?

To be considered for this role, the right candidate will have the following qualifications:

Experience: 

  • Minimum 2-years experience preferred  

  • Experience in program planning and implementation for Infant, Toddler and preschool children

  • Working knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act

            

Education:  Diploma in Early Childhood Education

Certifications:

  • Member in good standing with College of ECE’s

  • Standard First Aid with CPR level C

  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check

  • Proof of up to date immunization for TB, Tetanus and MMR

  • Valid Food Handler’s certification

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills

  • Demonstrates awareness and knowledge of How Does Learning Happen

  • Demonstrated knowledge, working ability to effectively interact with children requiring behavioural guidance

  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

Characteristics:

  • Ability to communicate with diplomacy and interact constructively with all levels of stakeholders and employees both verbally and in written format

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment

  • Flexible environment with minimal supervision

  • An advocate for diversity, equality, and inclusion

What will you be doing?

The RECE Program Leader is responsible for all aspects of the operation of the child care centre to which he/she had been assigned, including administration, program planning and implementation, in conjunction with other staff members.

The successful candidate will:

  • Establish goals, plan, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate experiences to enhance children's cognitive, physical, social and emotional development in accordance with Ministry of Education's How Does Learning Happen

  • Supervising children in your care at all times

  • Organize indoor and outdoor play areas, space, equipment, and materials to create a warm and welcoming environment

  • Conduct daily checks on each child in his/her group as per Ministry requirements, complete documentation and notify the Supervisor of any unusual circumstances

  • Maintain a safe, warm, and caring environment in which a high-quality child care program can operate, and maintain professional relationships with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty

  • Work to provide age-appropriate developmental activities to enhance the individual and group's cognitive, physical, social, cultural and emotional development
