Job Description:
The Acute Care Pharmacist is responsible for performing all duties associated with interpretation, order verification, dispensing and monitoring of medications ordered by prescribers; the evaluation and dissemination of comprehensive information about medications and their use, to patients, families, and medical staff; and providing quality pharmaceutical care to make a healthy difference in people’s lives. Job duties may also include daily medication monitoring, distribution and acquisition duties as required by the pharmacy department, medication reconciliation, anticoagulation dosing and monitoring, pharmacokinetic monitoring, renal dose adjustments, and serving as a clinical specialist and consultant to staff within Essentia Health. The Acute Care Pharmacist assists in all aspects of the daily departmental activities, including training of new staff and pharmacy students, billing, record keeping, monthly audits, and other duties as assigned by the department leader. A positive attitude, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and good organizational skills are essential.
Education Qualifications:
Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (BS or PharmD degree required)
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Education and/or years experience preferred:
•ASHP-Accredited Hospital Residency, or three or more years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
Licensure/Certifications required:
•Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Board of Pharmacy of the state in which they will be working (Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota)
OR
•If currently registered as a Pharmacist in another state, must be registered with the Board of Pharmacy of the state in which they will be working (Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota) as a Pharmacist-Intern and actively pursuing licensure as a Registered Pharmacist, obtaining licensure within 90 days of hire.
•Ongoing continuing education and license renewal as required by the state Board of Pharmacy.
