WEG Electric Corp. has an excellent opportunity for an Application Engineer - LV Drives.The Application Engineer is responsible and accountable for the Engineered and Standard enclosed LV Drives and Soft Starters panel negotiation process from inception of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) to negotiation close out. This position is also responsible to support inside sales and outside sales Team with any pre-sale technical inquiries in regards to LV VFD and Soft starters.
Primary Responsibilities:
Communicates with Field Sales, Customer(s), engineering group and factories effectively. Develops industry experience (periodicals, internet research, professional memberships, conference participation, site visits, etc.).
Reviews request for quotations (specifications, emails, phone calls, etc.).
Leads and takes ownership of the quotation/opportunity by requesting feedback from Sales or directly from customers, when appropriate.
Identifies project/customer details vital for determining quotation strategies and competitive strengths/weaknesses.
Compiles and composes an accurate proposal to customers of WEG-s product offering.
Follows minimum pricing guidelines as established by management.
Identifies opportunities to management when alternate pricing is needed.
Accurately receives and reviews Customer Purchase Order for accuracy (as needed).
Generates order entry materials and clarifies any special requirements.
Organizes all quotation/order documentation electronically and hard copies (as needed).
Assist LV Drives and Soft Starters team members technically or commercially as needed.
Participates in conference calls and/or customer visits with limited outside sales assistance.
Gets feedback direct from customers with limited help from the outside sales team.
Provides technical and commercial training and mentoring to more junior team members and field sales as appropriate.
Education:
Bachelor-s degree in electrical engineering or related field from a four-year college or university or university program certificate or equivalent in related experience
Knowledge / training:
Understands medium to complex level technical specifications for VFDs & Soft starters.
Knowledge of industry complex standards specifications such as UL/cUL, UL508A, UL61800-5-1, UL508, IEEE 518, NEC, NFPA is required.
Able to read and interpret electrical drawings, symbols and nomenclature is required. In-house software to secure medium to complex level designs without factory support.
Moderate understanding of Control panel design & UL508A.
Moderate understanding of the sales process for LV VFDs and Soft Starters and engineered products.
Moderate understanding of the industry requirements and applications is required.
Moderate understanding of OEMs, EPCs and Users of the industry assigned is required.
Moderate understanding of marketing trends, understanding of legislation and/or environment changes that can affect the business.
Moderate understanding of competition and their strong/weak points is required.
Able to read, speak, understand and compose clear technical dialog in English is required.
Proficient in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
