Sysco Logistics Planner - SYGMA - US in DUBLIN, Ohio
JOB SUMMARY
The Logistics Planner is responsible for managing, analyzing, and growing all aspects of SYGMA’s logistical income via the SYSCO TMS Manhattan freight program.
HYBRID - once out of training, 1 day in office per week
MUST RESIDE WITHIN CENTRAL OHIO
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the focal point of contact between SYSCO’s National Inbound Transportation Center (NITC) and SYGMA inventory control around Logistical arranged freight
Serve as the focal point of lane analysis activities which include lane activations, SYSCO/SYGMA load shares and customer requested freight Request for Proposal (RFP)
Oversee all managed TMS shipments and communicate time-sensitive information to the appropriate business partners
Update internal TMS system with accurate information around each shipment which includes estimated revenue, cost, and margin
Select the best mode of transportation on all lanes to generate incremental Legal Entity Identifier (LEI)
Develop and maintain all Logistic Lane Profiles and records
Work with SYSCO carrier management to procure better carrier rates on logistical freight lanes under the targeted margin thresholds
Work with SYSCO carrier management to obtain pricing on new lanes identified as Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) opportunities
Provide reporting on Key Monthly Metrics (Freight Revenue Managed, Expenses, Profits, etc) in the aggregate
Proactively analyze and identify all negative accruing freight and work with the appropriate business channels to correct these issues
Continually analyze all inbound freight for new freight savings and optimization opportunities
Complete projects as assigned by the Manager, Logistics
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or GED is required
Four-year degree desired, with a specialization in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management and Logistics or related field preferred
Experience:
With HS diploma or GED, 5 to 7 years’ experience in the logistics field is required
Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with employees and outside business contacts
Strong analytical ability
Ability to interpret data and to see profit opportunities
Strong PC skills, especially Microsoft Office: Word, Excel
Physical Demands:
Work is sedentary in nature
Mental/Visual Demands:
Must be able to read at distances close to the eyes, with or without correction
A substantial part of the day is spent on key entry
Working Conditions:
Most of the day is spent in a comfortable office environment
