As a Senior Medical Director , you will be working in the Optum Ireland Clinical Intelligence are developing cutting edge analytical products from one of the world’s richest healthcare dataset. You will be at the intersection of clinical medicine, data science and technology

Primary Responsibilities of the Senior Medical Director:
• Lead the Ireland Clinical Data Science clinical team and develop the clinical strategy for the application of clinical and data science methods and how they can benefit healthcare operations
• Be an clinical leader and advocate for the clinical application of data science methods and applications and how they can benefit healthcare operations
• The ability for critical thinking outside your immediate sphere of responsibility and build key relationships with our clinical partners across the UHG enterprise
• Lead and work in partnership with other Medical Directors and Data Scientists to find solutions to complex problems
• Leverage clinical, technical and analytical expertise across the enterprise to architect, deploy and oversee clinical and population health analytics and technology solutions
• Provide clinical oversight and governance based on evidence based medicine, clinical guidelines, and best practices while adhering to any and all local, state, federal, or global legal and regulatory requirements.
• Prototype new products and solutions that have the capability to transform the industry
• Ability to articulate and paint a vision, with strong communication and presentation skills, as well as strengths in translating highly complex concepts, results, models and technologies in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
• Be familiar with the state-of-the-art around big data analytics and associated technologies and techniques
• Be a leader for a variety of projects including proofs of concept, new product / component development, and reengineering initiatives among others.

Required Qualifications of the Senior Medical Director:
• Fully qualified Physician with a minimum of strong proven practicing experience
• Expert level knowledge of clinical medicine, guidelines and implementation of evidence-based practice into clinical workflow.
• Experience in analytics / data science / technology development and/or implementation in a business or academic setting. This could be an advanced degree such as Master of Public Health or similar.
• Prior experience in a fast-paced, agile workspace with ability to manage a key role in multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications of the Senior Medical Director:
• Core knowledge of statistics
• Knowledge of the US Healthcare system
