Trane Technologies seeks an EMEA VAT manager based in Brussels or Dublin. The goal is to provide support to the EMEA Assistant Tax Director to enhance the functional Excellence of the Indirect Tax Function. The primary responsibility of this position will be to support the Business and the other functions with day-to-day activities as well Tax planning & restructuring, business model optimizations, risk mitigation and cash flow optimizations. The manager will work closely with the VAT Compliance and Indirect Tax Technology Team members to further automate and enhance the Indirect Tax Function. The role reports to the EMEA Assistant Tax Director based in Brussels.
Ensuring the overall implementation of the strategic initiatives to drive the functional Excellence and the Value creation of the Indirect Tax function:
Ensure business partnership and support with cross-functional projects to address a broad range of VAT matters. This includes the effective and practical support of the day-to-day activities and more extensive technical VAT advisory support related to supply chain restructuring, international reorganisations including spin offs, mergers and acquisitions, transformation, and integration of new businesses, etc.
Implement measures to strengthen our Lean Indirect Tax Function through internal controls, process improvement, standard work, trainings to stakeholders and business partners as well as the maintenance of Tax performance dashboards
Drive cash flow optimizations for the group through the effective management of the VAT refund claims, the purchases in exemption of VAT and the tax deferment measures
Conducting internal VAT audits in order to ensure VAT compliance as well as the implementation of VAT simplifications and tax optimizations
Effective management of the VAT audits and the good relationship with Tax authorities
Support with the implementation of the indirect Tax systems in the EMEA region (e.g. VAT in Middle east)
Support the VAT Compliance Team with the day-to-day management of the filing of the VAT returns, European Sales Listings, Intrastat returns, SAF-T requirements and other real time reporting requirements
Support the Indirect Tax Technology manager with the implementation of the Tax technology solutions in EMEA, APAC and LATAM, including but not limited to:
The review and the communication of the Indirect Tax requirements to the stakeholders
The configuration and the validation of the rules in the Vertex Tax Engine during any Oracle deployment
The implementation of the third-party Indirect Tax Compliance software
The implementation of the digitization requirements such as e-Invoicing, SAF-T and others
The implementation of data mining solutions
The automation of manual processes for increased compliance
Monitor legislative changes, new case law, and other changes in VAT guidance or practice as well as determining the impact of these changes to the organization and implementing mitigation measures
VAT trainings to the team as well as other stakeholders and Business Partners
Experience and skills:
Degree in law or economics, master level – Preferably with a specialisation in Tax
A minimum of 6 years of Indirect Tax experience - Preferably partially in a Big4 (VAT advisory Team) and partially in the industry
Strong Indirect Tax knowledge required
Experience with VAT compliance matters, including the implementation of real time reporting and digitization requirements
Knowledge of Oracle ERP and/or Vertex Tax engine is preferred
Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Problem solver, result oriented
