The Opportunity:

The Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) is responsible for ensuring the continuity of operating assets, achieving department objectives for equipment reliability and maintenance budgets, and facilitating sound business decisions regarding the requirements for equipment maintenance versus productivity goals. This role provides support to the Department Superintendent, Production Supervisors, Maintenance and Operation Supervisors, and the Maintenance Planners for the coordination required to maintain and ensure operating reliability. This role serves as the liaison between maintenance and production to effectively communicate and schedule planned maintenance work orders.

• Facilitate daily meetings with Maintenance Planners and Maintenance and Operations Managers, reviewing upcoming work requests, weekly scheduling, and outage planning

• Screen and approve all work orders in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for asset area to ensure job priority and efficient utilization of maintenance resources

• Monitor maintenance schedules to ensure there is no conflict with operation or production schedules

• Prioritize non-emergency and break-in work order requests to approve and reject, review complete work orders, and produce schedule for the next day/week

• Maintain planned work order backlog according to facility guidelines and utilize backlog to schedule daily and weekly work list

• Serve as the project originator for maintenance capital in asset area, including documentation and troubleshooting maintenance issues

• Plan and schedule any installation and startup of new equipment to minimize the disruption of normal operations

People and Culture

• Serve as critical member to the Operations Department team representing the interest of the group in all work activities both internal and external to the mill

• Partner with E&I and Mechanical Maintenance Supervisors to review work requests to determine feasibility and safety controls for work to be performed

• Communicate with Reliability Engineers to resolve chronic and repeat failures with equipment

• Work with training resources to maintain detailed, structured on-the-job training manuals for department tasks and jobs

• Provide technical support and problem-solving techniques to Operations and Maintenance

• Support and foster safety and environmental compliance

What you will need to succeed:

• Decision-Making: Uses strong problem-solving skills and supporting information to arrive at optimal decisions in an appropriate timeframe; knows when to decide and/or when to seek additional input, and drive for consensus

• Communication: Creates and delivers engaging presentations to internal and external audiences; develops new communication strategies and approaches to communicate data, insights, and critical messages resulting in clear understanding

• Organizational Skills: Plans, prioritizes, and/or monitors work to ensure achievement of desired results; establishes a systematic course of action to accomplish objectives

• Time Management: Plans, prioritizes, and manages time spent on accomplishing tasks to increase productivity and efficiency; demonstrates awareness and control over amount of time spent on activities; meets deadlines

Technical Skills:

• Microsoft Office - Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

• Mechanical acumen

• Working knowledge of paper mill equipment, processes, and language

• Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS)

Work Environment:

• Frequent standing and walking in a hot, humid, or cold, non-climate-controlled environment; noisy industrial work environment; exposure to machinery conditions of over 100⁰F; ability to operate or learn to operate heavy equipment; maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations

Experience:

• Required: 5-10 years of experience in Pulp and Paper industry in both maintenance and operations

• Preferred: Supervisory or management experience

Education:

• Required: High School diploma, G.E.D.

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
