About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Manager to join our Housekeeping team at Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

  • Supervise housekeeping attendants, schedule shifts, train new employees in line with SOP manual and LQA standards and take corrective actions when necessary.

  • Screens/interview housekeeping attendants job applicants and recommend promotion and/or transfer of employees when the need arises.

  • Assign duties to housekeeping attendants and inspect already completed tasks to ensure compliance with already stated housekeeping standards.

  • Record and keep data regarding work assignments and prepare reports on a routine basis. ·

  • Issue work equipment and supplies to the housekeeping staff/workers.

  • Personally carry out housekeeping duties in the case of any form of emergency/urgency, and/or shortage of staff.

  • Liaise and cooperate with Front Office department to ensure the allocated rooms are ready prior to the guest arrival.

  • Inspect the rooms prior to guest arrival and thereafter daily to ensure that the standard is maintained for the duration of the guest stay.

  • Be constantly aware of the room status to obtain maximum inspected rooms for sale or up-sale.

  • Liaise and cooperate with the Engineering department for room maintenance, PPM and faults.

  • Examine the building/area to determine areas that need repairs and/or maintenance and communicate to the concerned department.

  • Respond to guests’ complaints and special requests and report them to Housekeeping Manager.

  • Ensure that all floors’ pantries are properly stocked with linen, guest supplies, cleaning supplies according to the established par stock.

  • Carry out inventory, maintain stocks to ensure a steady supply of work materials and communicate to Housekeeping Coordinator or Manager to order cleaning products and guests supplies when needed.

  • Participate in large cleaning projects as required.

  • Make recommendations to help improve housekeeping services within the organization. ·

  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies in all areas.

  • Carries out other duties assigned by the Housekeeping Manager

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Work experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor/Team Leader or similar role for minimum 1-2 years

  • Hands-on experience with cleaning and maintenance tasks for large organizations, preferably 5* hotels and resorts

  • Must be able to always communicate effectively, clearly and fluent in English

  • Handling industrial cleaning equipment, products, chemicals

  • Hotel system Opera (preferable, but not mandatory)

  • Excellent organizational and team management skills

  • Undertakes responsibilities as detailed in job description

  • Stamina to handle the physical demands of the job

  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and experience

  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to get along well with co-workers, guests and suppliers

  • Must have good time management abilities
