Weyerhaeuser HR Business Partner in Drayton Valley, Alberta
Weyerhaeuser is seeking a talented Human Resources Business Partner to join our Western Lumber HR Team. This role will support a unionized manufacturing site in Drayton Valley, AB. In this role, the successful candidate will be required to build relationships with the site leaders with an ability coach through HR related issues and understand the business operations from both the strategic and tactical perspective. The successful candidate will need to have a strong labour relations background, ability to diagnose organizational issues, develop solutions, and implement HR action plans in partnership with the site Manager and be willing to take on special projects as needed. This role will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Human Resources functions for the Drayton Valley mill and is a member of the site leadership team.
This position will report to the Senior HR Business Manager with a dotted line responsibility to the Mill Manager.
Key Responsibilities:

- Strategic business partner to the Drayton Valley leadership team as well as the broader Region HR Team.
- Provide top-quality coaching, consultations, and solutions in all areas of HR, including employee relations, talent management, and leadership training.
- Support leadership team with people development by identifying skill gaps and developing solutions. Work with Unit Manager to support Individual Development Plans and Performance Management Plans for the team to ensure quality goals and targets.
- Lead workplace investigations, work with legal department, and prepare comprehensive reports of findings.
- Work closely with management and the union to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
- Collaborate with the HR team and site leadership to champion and accelerate a culture of excellence in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top business results.
- Partner with leaders to develop and implement diversity and inclusion strategies.
- Responsible for salaried and hourly staffing functions (including sourcing, recruiting, retention, and on-boarding process).
- Promote and encourage innovative thoughts and ideas.
- Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions and programs.
Ensure site compliance with state and federal laws.
Bachelor’s degree required and preference given if within the discipline of Human Resources or related field.
- Typically 3-5 years of Human Resources Business Partner or equivalent HR functional experience.
- Previous manufacturing/industrial experience, highly desired.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel 25% of the time to other locations, including some overnight travel and flow to work as needed.
- Demonstrated safety leadership.
- Strong coaching and influencing skills.
- Experience in leading change management initiatives.
- Ability to effectively navigate through ambiguous situations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, assess HR implications and manage details.
- Experience working in a manufacturing and union environment preferred.
- Experience in multiple HR disciplines including compensation practices, employee relations, talent management, diversity, performance management, and federal and state laws.
- Must have strong computer skills and proficient with HRIS systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills.
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $92,100 - $134,300 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Nonunion Canadian employees are automatically enrolled in our Defined Contribution Pension Plan, which includes a paid company match up to 6%, in addition to a company contribution equaling up to 7.25% of your base salary.
