Job Description

DJBOSS : MWR Technician (Sports/Fitness)

Coordinates and implements the MWR mission program at a specific facility. Provides exercise guidance, testing, prescription, and supervision to MWR users and teaches group exercise classes. Assists with the delivery of health programs and maintains monthly health bulletin boards and educational materials. May plan and assign work of other sports/fitness center staff and host country national attendants in MWR facilities. Monitors and organizes the use of the MWR facility as required.

Additional duties :

  • Assist in hosting Fitness Competitions (Squat, Dead lift, Strongman, Bench Press, Pull Up, Push Up) and assists with Annual Health and Wellness Fitness Fair,

  • Provides group fitness classes weekly

  • Provides staff in service fitness Orientation and equipment familiarization and safety refresher.

  • Provides 1x monthly fitness Orientation and equipment familiarization and safety to new Patrons.

  • Coordinate with Supervisor monthly 5K runs/3 K walks, Captain’s Cup sports Tournament events,

  • Performs routine facility inspections, monitors safety, damage to facility or MWR equipment.

  • Assist Sports Coordinator to Plan/ Organize / staff / conduct /officiate and set up /tear down of (6) intramural league events annually.

  • Assist in set up Turf Field and preparation prior to Leagues/Tournaments

  • Conducts officiating sports instruction clinic for staff refresher prior to each league.

  • Assist in operating Fitness Facility /conducts MWR facility property and materials inventory monthly.

  • Assist in conducting (end of each league) sports supplies /equipment Consumables Inventory.

  • Prepare After Action Reports for League, sports tournaments, and Competitions.

  • Assist in development of Annual and Monthly Sports & Fitness Calendars, approve flyers as needed.

  • Ensures that all operations are in accordance with KBR MWR SOP’S/ and CNICINST 1710.3 directives.

    Certifications required:

  • CPR/FIRST AID/AED – current upon hire

  • Sports Official Clinician Certification- Preferred

  • Group Fitness Instructor certification (preferably from an (NCCA) accredited organization i.e., IFPA Fitness, Cooper institute, ACE, National Strength, and Conditioning Association or other) per Navy MWR CINCINST 1710.3. - Preferred

Technician shall have a 2-year degree from an accredited college or university with a major study in one or more areas of appropriate field of recreation or 2-years of general experience where candidate has satisfactorily demonstrated an understanding of goals, principles, methods and techniques of recreational fitness and sports.

Experience must include 2+ years of experience involving coordination of Fitness activities/ fun runs / Water aerobics Instruction or organized team sports. MWR Armed Forces experience and some college course work is preferred. All certifications must be current through the period of the contract.

Additional requirements:

  • Must be fluent in English.

  • Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity AND with at least 4 blank visa/stamp pages remaining.

  • Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
