Air Cargo Handler In/Out

Job Duties:

• Inspects, completes, and maintains air movement’s records, documents, and Shipper’s Declaration of Dangerous Goods (SDDG)

• Build-up/break-down pallets, multi-pallet trains and loose cargo

• Accurately weigh and record cargo and baggage

• Verifies eligibility of cargo offered for airlift. Ensures all cargo documentation, packaging, labeling and marking requirements, and border clearance requirements have been met.

• Exercises necessary safety and security precautions for handling and storing dangerous materials, special cargo, mail, and baggage

• Coordinate timely cargo and mail pick-up/release

• Selects, assembles, palletizes, and transports cargo loads to and from aircraft and storage areas

• Checks cargo against manifests, and annotates overage, shortage, or damage. Secures cargo with appropriate devices and equipment.

• Inspect and operate K-loaders, forklifts, busses, tugs, vans or other required vehicles safely, and ensure vehicles in need of repair or service are properly turned in to maintenance

• Uses computer systems (GATES) to process cargo and provide in-transit visibility over cargo movement operations

• Perform joint inspections in accordance with AFI24-605, DTR 4500.9R, AFMAN 24-604 and other applicable instructions

• Load, unload, and service aircraft including but not limited to C-5, C-17, C-130, MD-11, B-747, B-767 and C-40

• Ensure cargo loads are secured and tied down appropriately IAW Air Force instructions

• Perform load team chief duties in accordance with AFI24-605 and DTR 4500.9R

• Ensure all Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements are properly and accurately accomplished

• Perform supplemental duties in Air Cargo or other Air Operations work centers as required by supervisor or manager

Certification/Education Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in military air cargo/air freight/ramp operations

• Experience in loading and unloading aircraft; operating materials handling equipment such as 10K forklifts, 25K-loader, lower lobe loader, etc.

• Experience in processing cargo in GATES

• Load team chief qualified (or ability to become load team chief qualified)

• P ossess or have the ability to obtain HAZMAT Inspector/Preparer certification

• possess or have the ability to obtain joint inspector certification
