Summary

The Maintenance Technician is a highly-skilled technician who is able to work with all production machinery, automated and electrical systems. This person will assist with installations, troubleshooting, repairs, modifications and preventative maintenance.

3rd shift - 8:30pm-5:00am

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, rebuilds and performs preventive/predictive maintenance on all production machinery, automated and electrical systems.

  • Prepare equipment for sanitation.

  • Perform specific duties during production hours such as lubrication, cleaning, changeovers, adjustments, blade replacement, etc.

  • Observe/adjust equipment for proper operation during production and/or report problems to management. Reads, interprets and understands manufacturers' equipment manuals.

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and replace “in kind” parts on weekends.

  • Performs specific duties during both production and non-production hours in a timely manner with OSHA Lockout/Tagout and Company safety regulations.

  • Assist in equipment modifications or rebuilds to insure they are capable of performing required production functions.

  • Maintain work and production area during production and on weekends as needed.

  • Provides "hands on" training and direction to lower level mechanics and techs in properly servicing, repairing and maintaining the equipment operated by the Company. May also have the responsibility of leading other mechanics and tech, monitoring their work, attendance, start-ups and set-ups.

  • Adhere to all safety requirements including preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions.

Minimum Education

Associates degree and/or Technical School certification or relevant training is strongly preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years experience maintaining manufacturing systems and equipment in an automated plant as well as training/experience with compressed air systems, boilers, pneumatics, and hydraulics, etc

  • Read/write English, math and analytical skills are required

  • Able to make correct calculations when completing mechanical, electrical or electronic maintenance repairs.

  • Must have all personal tools at all times and be able to use and operate hand tools and industrial shop equipment

  • Working knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot PLCs

  • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Position is active. On the plant floor activities such as troubleshooting and re-design of existing systems are routine. May need to move equipment occasionally. Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures ranging from 28 – 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. Noise levels ranging from 85 - 88 db. Exposure to iodine at hand wash station. Light intensity above 50' candles. May be exposed to all chemicals used in a poultry, food, processing facility. Ability to lift 80 lbs., Ability to move throughout the department. Must wear and use protective safety equipment required for the job as directed by the company.
