Category Manager – Logistics Pricing Strategy

Logistics Procurement is responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives and procurement of logistics services. This role involves development and management of network level pricing for, managing commercial strategies to drive optimal pricing management to the needs of the organization, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the company secures the best value for logistics services while meeting quality and service level requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics procurement, excellent analytical skills, business acumen and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and spends.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing and Procurement:

Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for logistics services including warehousing, distribution, domestic/international transportation via FTL, LTL, Drayage, Bulk.

Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, conduct RFQs/RFPs, and lead negotiation efforts to secure the best terms and conditions.

Analyze market trends and conditions to understand the impact on logistics costs and service availability.

Implement strategies for long lasting partnership and control spend predictability over a long time horizon.

Supplier Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with key logistics service providers across multiple categories.

Monitor supplier performance against established KPIs and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.

Resolve any performance issues and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Contract Management:

Draft, review, and manage contracts with logistics service providers.

Ensure that all contracts are compliant with company policies and legal requirements.

Manage contract renewals and renegotiations to drive continuous improvement in cost and service levels.

Cost Management:

Develop and manage budgets for multiple logistics procurement categories.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement initiatives to achieve cost reductions without compromising service quality.

Track and report on savings achieved through strategic sourcing initiatives.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with internal stakeholders including supply chain, operations, finance, and legal teams to ensure alignment of logistics procurement activities with overall business goals.

Communicate sourcing strategies, project updates, and performance metrics to leadership and other direct stakeholders.

Foster a collaborative environment to drive continuous improvement and innovation in logistics procurement processes.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks in the logistics supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.

Monitor geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors that could impact logistics services and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.

Ensure business continuity through proactive risk management and contingency planning.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 Years – Experience in Procurement or other related field

  • 6 Years – Experience in Position

  • 4 Years – Experience Supervising Employees/ Process
