The Opportunity
Abt Global seeks a qualified Strategic Communications Manager for the Feed the Future Bangladesh Nutrition Activity. This is a full-time position based in Dhaka and reporting to the Senior Manager – Strategic Communications.
The Feed the Future Bangladesh Nutrition Activity contributes to improvements in nutrition outcomes of household members, with an emphasis on children under the age of five years, pregnant and lactating women, and adolescent girls and boys in the country’s Feed the Future (FTF) zone of influence (ZOI) and the zone of resilience (ZOR). Three results underwrite this goal: 1) consumption of nutritious, diverse, safe, and balanced diets by households; 2) social and economic empowerment of women and social empowerment of adolescents; and 3) adoption of improved water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices. The Activity integrates a strong focus on gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) across all three result areas and applies a combination of market systems development (MSD) and social behavior change (SBC) approaches to achieve its goal.
Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager – Strategic Communications, the Manager - Strategic Communications will contribute to design and implementation of the Activity’s stakeholder-oriented communications strategies, manage report production, and ensure compliance with the project’s Branding and Marking Plan. This includes the following:
Support development of an integrated communications strategy to highlight the Activity’s achievements and learning to USAID, Government of Bangladesh officials, current and potential private sector and NGO partners, and staff.
Support the project’s technical, cross-cutting, and operations teams to ensure efficient planning and implementation of communications activities
Create and disseminate appropriate communication products via relevant channels, including traditional and social media, events, printed materials and video. Ensure key messages are consistently delivered to relevant target audiences across all channels
Write and package success stories for internal and external publications
Ensure consistent and coherent USAID and Feed the Future branding and editorial style across all Activity outputs, including media outreach, audiovisual material, publications, reports, documents and presentations
Develop weekly bullets and stories summarizing activity progress, challenges, successes, and learning
Champion innovative and nimble methods to drive communications
*What We Value: *
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, journalism, social sciences, international development) and 4-6 years of relevant professional experience
Prior experience working on donor-funded projects, preferably with USAID
Excellent English language proficiency, including report writing and editing skills
Strong creative and analytical skills and good strategic judgment
Demonstrated leadership and ability to work closely with peers
Ability to remain organized and focused on long-term vision and strategy
Strong understanding of media planning and experience working on digital communications
Excellent Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills. Experience in Google platforms and other virtual working platforms is an added quality
