Henry Ford Health System Orthopedic Technician - Athletic Medicine - Full Time (40Hrs)/Days - Detroit in Detroit, Michigan

As an Orthopedic Technician, you will play a crucial role in our healthcare team, working closely with orthopedic surgeons and other medical professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist orthopedic surgeons during procedures and surgeries

  • Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and braces

  • Educate patients on proper care and use of orthopedic devices

  • Maintain and prepare orthopedic equipment

  • Provide compassionate and effective patient care

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Under the general direction of the physician, applies, repairs, and removes casts. Assume responsibilities of the orthopedic cast room which includes assisting physicians and staff with application and removal of casts. Traction device set up and adjustment performed per instructions of orthopedic physician.

    EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

  • At least six months previous clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Orthopedic Technician.

  • 2 years casting and splinting experience preferred.

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Current Heart Saver Certification.
