Detroit Diesel Corporation Mechanical Product Design Engineer IV in Detroit, Michigan

Lead the development, validation, and release of mechanical components and systems with interfaces to mechatronics systems for conventional and alternative Powertrain systems. Generate ideas to reduce product cost and improve quality. Analyze data, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations of technical results for the management team. Utilize structured problem-solving methods to identify root cause for Powertrain system issues and integrate corrective actions into new and existing designs. Independently schedule work including work orders, progress monitoring, and problem resolution in order to ensure timely completion of projects. Conduct and thoroughly document project work, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to review with management. Create project plans and timelines and assist management with defining budget requirements. Promptly resolve plant build issues and field problems. Lead cross-functional activities with regional and Global counterparts in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and Suppliers. Communicate effectively and maintain professional/social interaction in a multi-cultural and international environment. Improve knowledge and skills through training; actively identify areas of potential self-improvement and alert management of opportunities for training. Maintain daily record of work hours by project.
