Henry Ford Health System Full-Time – Supervisor Advanced Practice Providers - (HFHS Geriatric Medicine) in Detroit, Michigan

Position Summary:

This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening. A position for Skilled Nursing Facilities. APP will be assigned patients at Skilled Nursing Facilities and working with a physician. Preferred interest in geriatrics and SNF. Strong interpersonal skills, and supervisory experience. Prefer applicants with having experience in an inpatient and skilled nursing facility setting.

Prefer applicant to have experience in managing patients on general medicine and surgical floors and preferably have some nursing home or LTAC experience.

This position is .8 clinical and .2 administrative - Full-Time.

this position/role will include other locations as well

Schedule– Monday – Friday. Expectation to start in the morning 8a or 9a, and finish around 4p or 5p. APP will be taking calls (phone) for the facilities they provide care from 7a-6p.

Weekend/ call requirement– APPS expected to be on call (phone only) 3-4 evenings/nights per month.

    Working Conditions:

Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment

Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training

GENERAL SUMMARY: The APP Supervisor, under the direction of leadership, is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising the performance of a team of APPs. Provides education and acts as a resource for their respective area of APP oversight. Responsible for providing day-to-day support for all issues relating to the APPs they oversee, including credentialing, education, benefit, and salary issues. Participates on the appropriate committees that impact these providers as required. Practices 50% of the time clinically and works 50% of the time administratively or as determined appropriate by leadership. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program and certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) OR master's prepared Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with board certification in their chosen specialty. Three (3) years of experience as an advanced practice provider. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant licensure in the State of Michigan and current National Board Certification by approved accrediting bodies. Current ACLS or BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Training

  1. NP – Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)

OR

  1. PA – Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

Continuing Education

  1. Applicant must have sufficient education credits to maintain licensure as required by the applicable State of Michigan licensing board

    Certification
  2. NP – Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

  3. PA – Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Other

  1. Michigan License, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)

  2. Inpatient experience required
