Essential Functions (Job Duties):

Provide leadership to the Gastroenterology Division by serving as Division Chief through creating and implementing mentoring and career development plans for new and current faculty, and serving as a role model for colleagues, students, residents, fellows, and faculty. Recruit, energize, and retain high caliber faculty, staff, and trainees in a manner consistent with the Division's core mission of education, research, and service.

Develop a plan for allocation of new resources to cultivate a hypothesis-driven research program that is relevant to the local Detroit/Southeastern Michigan region, by achieving extramural funding.

Provide responsible fiscal stewardship along with the Department Chair, and proactively seek entrepreneurial opportunities for the division.

Participate in the teaching program of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Participate in research activities within the Department.

Publish peer-reviewed literature as author and co-author.

Participate in scholarly activities in the area of Gastroenterology.

Participate in service assignments of importance to the Department, the School of Medicine, and the University.

Perform administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

M.D. or D.O. degree required.

Valid Michigan medical license required.

Board certification or eligibility required.

Rank commensurate with credentials.
