Henry Ford Health System Director of Finance HFO - Optimeyes - Full time - Troy in Detroit, Michigan

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for the direction of financial statement preparation; month-end financial close process; balance sheet account reconciliation; and related analyses for a specific division and operations of Community Care Services. Directs the preparation of annual budgets and long-term forecasts and oversees responsible staff during financial and third-party payer audits. Directs billing, accounts receivable, collections, purchasing and accounts payable activities.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Oversees and reviews the preparation of monthly financial statements and reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting of financial information.

· Performs review and analysis of the balance sheet, income statement, and other key financial indicators.

· Develops and prepares annual budgets and long-term forecasts for a specific Community Care Services division. Performs review and analysis of departmental budgets, preparation of budget materials for distribution to departments and maintenance of budget files; oversees training of team members involved in the budget process.

· Analyzes accounts payable and payroll information systems interface ensuring, required information is properly reflected in the accounting records. Coordinates interactions with the accounts payable and payroll teams to ensure that all information is identified and processed appropriately.

· Interacts with internal and external auditors as required. Prepares audit work papers and responds to questions from internal and external auditors.

· Coordinates and manages special projects such as analysis of historical data, trends and effects of potential financial changes.

· Coordinates the development of contract proposals, monitoring of funds and preparation of regulatory filings as required by various legal, regulatory and reimbursement authorities, e.g., cost reports, third party enrollment documents, etc.

· Coordinates, monitors and reports financial activities including banking arrangements and cash management. Ensures timely transfer of funds and proper authorization of transfer requests.

· Communicates as necessary with staff to provide an understanding of accounting procedures and policies.

· Communicates financial information including current results, projections, budgets and audits to staff ensuring understanding and accounting of various issues.

· Designs, utilizes and maintains financial systems which enable the accounting department to efficiently manage financial data. Ensures information technology supports required financial software applications and upgrades.

· Communicates and presents important financial information to non-financial staff when appropriate.

· Consults with operational leaders on business development on a global level to identify market opportunities.

· Participates in industry benchmarking and sharing of best practices.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required. MBA or CPA preferred.

· A minimum of five years of experience in Accounting or Finance required; experience in Health Care preferred.

· Requires a broad-based knowledge of accounting, finance and operations. Requires a strong working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and the ability to develop, review and interpret financial information.

· Requires strong analytical, written and verbal skills.

· Requires the ability to communicate effectively with both financial and operations personnel.

· Requires the ability to coordinate and assign special projects while completing many routine tasks on a timely basis is essential to this position.

· Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors as outlined in the HFHS’ Customer Service Policy

· Must practice the customer skills as provided through on-going training and in-services.

· The working conditions reflect a professional office environment setting.

· Normal office environment with minimal exposure to noise, dust, or extreme temperatures.
