*JOB SUMMARY: *Responsible for career coaching activities and related supportive services assistance for eligible Center for Working Families and ReBuild Detroit apprenticeship readiness program customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Adheres to the mission of the SER. 
  2. Assures that the implementation of service plans to meet customer needs is carried out effectively and according to policies and regulations. 
  3. Maintains relationships and connects with employers and partners to generate job opportunities for the job-seeker base. 
  4. A career coach has a current understanding of economic and employment trends and emerging career opportunities.
  5. Works closely with students to determine the type of jobs matching our job-seeker base's skills and qualifications.
  6. A career coach provides workshops on career readiness soft skills and advises candidates on how to prepare for interviews.
  7. Make ongoing follow-up calls and/or site visits (if applicable) with job seekers and employers to determine employment status and satisfaction with services delivered.
  8. Manages and updates the database of job development leads and case notes.
  9. Maintains program database, including data collection, input, and program reporting.
  10. Assists with workshops, special events, and programming (Money Smart Week, Show Me the Money Day)
  11. Contributes to the team effort by performing other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with experience in social work, counseling, career planning, placement, or related field. 
  2. Bilingual language skills required (English and Spanish).
  3. Experience in WIOA and employment and training program operations preferred. 
  4. Knowledge of community resources, of case management principles, objectives, standards, and methods, and of program policies and procedures.
  5. Knowledge of or ability to learn and use Salesforce, LaunchPad, OSMIS, FileMaker, and other reporting systems.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Access).
  7. Ability to make frequent visits to training providers' sites.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, administration, and other employees verbally and in writing.
  9. Must possess and have a valid Michigan Driver's License. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and have access to reliable transportation to perform required fieldwork responsibilities.   
  10. Able to work in a fast-paced and performance-based environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, and have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a phone, computer keyboard, and other office equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds.
