Thrivent Financial Assistant Manager of Engagement, SE Michigan in Detroit, Michigan

The position works in partnership with the Manager of Engagement (ME) and the Leader of Group Engagement (LGE) to provide leadership to the integrated community engagement plan of the region. The Assistant Manager of Engagement (AME) leads 3-4 Engagement Leaders to attract prospective members to Thrivent and grow membership in key markets in the region. The AME works with the LGE to develop a strategic plan to grow clients, engage members and make a societal impact by helping them find financial clarity and inspiring them to live lives of meaning and gratitude. The AME grows a key market in the region, and models effective community engagement with their team of Engagement Leaders:

Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing Engagement Leaders

  2. Growing a key market by engaging community, church, and non-profit organizations

  3. Leading a Thrivent Member Network board within the region

  4. Activating members to build advocates and deepen engagement in Thrivent’s mission

Please Note: This AME role will lead the entire state of Michigan

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to align their engagement team members to deliver on three primary areas: Drive Impact, Deliver Value to Clients and Grow Sales. Develops Engagement Leaders and/or Engagement Specialists to deliver outcomes in alignment with Thrivent’s strategic priorities and the Advisor Group growth plan.

  • Builds a Membership engagement plan for the market area in collaboration with the Leader, Group Engagement, and other enterprise partners. This plan aligns to the growth plans of the Advisor Group and the plans for community impact, client engagement and growth of the Thrivent Member Network.

  • Provides leadership to a strategic initiative within the engagement plan of the Advisor Group such as new or experienced advisor support or the approach to strategic partnerships to bring consistency to the work of the engagement team within the Advisor Group.

  • Provides leadership to the business functions of the market area they serve to appropriately integrate the engagement team. Examples include leadership team meetings, community partnerships, and Advisor Group meetings.

  • Holds a staff role with the TMN (Thrivent Member Network) board. In time they may serve as President of the Thrivent Member Network once they have demonstrated success in the role.

  • Models excellence in engagement work to deliver community impact through Thrivent programs, build new relationships that lead to growth of Thrivent, and deepen the engagement of current clients in the market area they serve.

  • Provides leadership to support Membership and Engagement investments in key growth markets, supports Thrivent strategic priorities by engaging community partnerships with church and non-profit organizations and supports advisors with Membership programs and TMN and engagement activities.

  • Fosters alignment between Engagement Leaders and Marketing team to ensure advisor engagement and marketing plans are high quality and lead to improved client engagement and growth for the advisor.

  • Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization.

  • Models Thrivent’s leadership competencies – Model the Way, Rally the Team, and Deliver Outcomes. ​

  • ​Budget accountability of approximately $500,000

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience

  • Experience with leading remote teams effectively

  • Experience developing talent and coaching for performance.

  • Experience with community impact

  • Ability to facilitate meetings and deliver presentations effectively

  • Demonstrated ability to build, activate, and leverage networks

  • Must be present 2-3 days per week within market area the position serves in the Advisor Group

  • Ability to travel up to 50% and flex schedule to work evenings/weekends occasionally

  • Must have proper home office environment to conduct remote work. This includes suitable high-speed internet to conduct the business of the role.

​Preferred:

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry

  • Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM and Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Power point and Teams)

  • Experience in an engagement role which led to achieving business outcomes

  • Highly connected to the Christian community in the market area served

  • Delegation, influence, and collaboration skills
