Matrix Human Services Assistant Center Manager in Detroit, Michigan

JOB SUMMARY/ACCOUNTIBILITY:

The Assistant Center Manager is responsible for supporting the center manager in the daily oversight of center operations, including assuring compliance with standards established to assure a high-quality program. This includes a strong commitment to Head Start's mission of ensuring all children and families are ready for school and schools are ready for our children and families. 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in early childhood education or child development. 
  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in a child-related field with 18 hours and equivalent coursework in early childhood education with at least 480 clock hours of experience in an early childhood setting teaching. 
  • Associate's degree in early childhood education or child development with 18 hours coursework in early childhood education or child development and 480 clock hours of experience in an early childhood setting.  
  • Must meet other grantee and licensing requirements. 
  • A minimum of three years classroom and supervisory experience. 
  • Effective, supportive supervisory skills, including the ability to assist staff in developing self-direction, and skills to develop a good team and team relationships

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in monitoring the inventory of site materials, supplies, and equipment

Assures accurate, complete, and confidential maintenance of staff records 

Co- leads bi-weekly staff meetings and monthly one-on- one meetings with the teaching staff

Conducts staff performance evaluations and professional development plans for the teaching staff

Assists in organizing the parent committee 

Assists in assuming all center level documentation are complete, up to date and accurate

Attends all meetings and trainings, as requested, to keep abreast of trends in various areas

Supports to create and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment 

Assists in managing related tasks as required by the program 

Assists in monitoring the planning, writing and implementation of individual lesson plans

Assists in monitoring the completion of 2 parent-teacher conferences and 2 home visits for each child/family 

Supports the creation and maintenance of a team and strength-based center environment

Assists in monitoring the completion of anecdotal notes into the COR Advantage system

Assists in developing a schedule to support the teaching staff during break times

Monitors classrooms during teaching staff breaks

Assists in monitoring staff time and attendance

Reports suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law, in accordance with agency policies and procedures, maintain documentation of reports made on behalf of the center 

Participates in program sponsored activities including community events

Assists in the recruitment for children in the center and assist to maintain enrollment

Meets regularly with the Center Manager and the Senior Operations Manager

Participates in weekly supervisory meetings with the Center Manager

Supports the completion of developmental screenings, assessments, Individual Education Plans and any other services necessary for the child's growth and development

Ensures the operation of the center are following active supervision practices, health & safety rules, licensing, performance standards and agency policies and procedures

Participates in ongoing professional development

Coordinates the submission of Incident Reports

Participates in the monitoring and completion of the Health & Safety Classroom Daily Checklists

Conducts the Health & Safety Center Daily Checklists

Completes and submits weekly
