Robert Half Accounting Manager in Detroit, Michigan

Description We are in the Stone/Glass/Concrete Manufacturing industry, located in Detroit, Michigan. We are currently seeking to bring onboard a meticulous Accounting Manager/Supervisor to oversee our accounting operations within the plant. This role involves a mix of finance and accounting tasks, with the successful candidate serving as a bridge between different departments and managers.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the plant's monthly closing process, ensuring all financial dealings are properly recorded and accounted for.

• Conduct detailed monthly analyses of financial variances and trends, comparing actual results against budgeted figures.

• Lead the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports, and handle any ad hoc requests as needed.

• Manage the analysis of all General Ledger accounts at the plant, investigating any unusual or unexpected variances promptly.

• Take charge of monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and the development of five-year strategic plans in collaboration with the plant management group.

• Oversee the Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) process at the plant level, which includes assisting in the preparation of capital authorization requests, forecasting CAPEX spending, and monitoring project expenses.

• Work closely with corporate finance staff and local plant management to establish and monitor system controls, develop procedures for enhancing existing systems, and ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

• Coordinate the preparation of materials for both external and internal audits.

• Attend daily operations meetings to provide comprehensive management support. Requirements • Proficiency in managing Month End Close processes

• Demonstrated expertise in handling General Ledger

• Skilled in conducting Variance Analysis

• Experience in Financial Reporting

• Ability to prepare and analyze Financial Statements

• Experience in handling Capital Expenditure (CapEx) related tasks

• Proficiency in Budgeting and Forecasting

• Relevant experience in the Stone/Glass/Concrete Manufacturing industry

• Proven leadership skills with experience in a managerial or supervisory role in Accounting

• Advanced knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Relevant professional certifications, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), are preferred

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
