We are seeking a skilled Billing Specialist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about their work. This role requires a high level of precision to ensure billing accuracy and involves extensive interaction with customers to assist with their billing needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, be organized, have a sense of urgency, and demonstrate attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval
Process vendor invoices for payment
Communicate directly with vendors and respond to inquiries
Dispute and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice items or pricing
Provide supporting documentation for audits
Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
Reconcile vendor statements, research, and resolve invoice discrepancies
Verify accuracy of service codes
Responsible for imaging and record retention of all billing documents
Ensure all billing policies and procedures are adhered to, including vendor approval and invoice processing
Complete all assigned tasks with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness
Prepare analysis of accounts
Produce monthly reports
Reconcile billing transactions
Keep current on vendor statements and contact vendors on past due invoices
Communicate with maintenance advisors when adjusting purchase orders
Other duties as assigned
Essential Skills
Experience in a customer-service oriented role or comfortability being on the phone most of the day
Proficiency in processing invoices
Ability to multi-task across three screens
Ability to handle pressure and demonstrate a sense of urgency
Experience with call center operations
Strong communication skills, both inbound and outbound
Attention to detail and accuracy
Organization, time-management, and prioritization abilities
Judgment and problem-solving skills
Professional integrity
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Data entry proficiency
Basic knowledge of Excel
Familiarity with phone systems such as Avaya
Teamwork and strong interpersonal skills
Patience and empathy in customer interactions
Ability to meet deadlines
Critical thinking skills
Associates Degree or equivalent experience
2+ years of billing experience preferred
Work Environment
This role is based in Des Plaines and requires full onsite attendance for the first 2-3 weeks of training. During training, Fridays may be remote, involving unsupervised training materials and call listening. Once trained, expect to work onsite 4 days a week, and potentially 5 days depending on business needs. Starting February 2025, the new office in Schaumburg will require attendance 4+ days per week.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00
