Job Description:
T5 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5) to Parsons in April 2023. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.8+ billion contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) and certain reimbursable programs, the FAA NextGen Program, national security programs and aviation safety. Specifically, work includes site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, drafting, contract surveillance, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Drafter to join our team! Our team of drafters is committed to excellence that inspire and endure. In this role you will get to update existing and create new design drawings.
What You'll Be Doing:
Incorporate engineer’s markups accurately.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Interpret and incorporate client’s CAD standards effectively.
Create detailed architectural and engineering drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, ProjectWise etc.)
Interpret and translate sketches, notes, and other input materials into accurate CAD drawings.
Ensure all drawings comply with FAA standards, codes, and company guidelines.
Revise and update existing drawings as required, maintaining accurate records of changes.
Verify the validity of drawing contents before adding them to the inventory.
Ensure proper filing and organization of drawings.
Provide copies of drawings upon request.
Reformat drawings for electronic archiving.
Accept incoming drawing packages from the Drafting Coordinator.
Scan hardcopies to PDF to preserve signatures.
Upload scanned files into ProjectWise software.
Match PDF files to their corresponding electronic files.
Create PDF files from stored folders when no hardcopies are provided, as directed upon project completion.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Manage and maintain files in the Southwest, Great Lakes, and Central region databases.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Associate degree or certification in CAD technology, drafting, architecture, or a related field.
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, ProjectWise etc.) and other relevant design tools.
Strong understanding of architectural and engineering principles and practices.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in creating and reviewing drawings.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Must pass a security background check conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Must report to Des Plaines, IL office 4 days a week.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Must be computer savvy and a fast learner.
2+ years of experience in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).
Proficiency in ProjectWise software for managing, finding, and sharing CAD and geospatial content, project data, and Office documents is a plus.
Familiarity with building codes and construction standards.
Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes and software.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and understanding in MicroStation CAD software and Revit is a plus
