Wells Fargo Lending Operations Manager in DES MOINES, Iowa

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lending Operations Manager in Commercial Banking as part of the Wholesale Lending Flood Operations (WLFO) team.

The Wholesale Lending Flood Operations team is a key control in ensuring Wells Fargo is fully assessing Flood risk and is compliant with the FDPA Policy. Failure to mitigate risk in this portfolio would have significant impacts to the Bank by creating defects that could result in regulatory and policy violations and adverse impact to internal and external customers. This leader role will be responsible to lead a team that executes on the quality control reviews on Commercial Banking loans specific to Flood Disaster Protection Act (FDPA) requirements. This will include oversight of pipeline management, service level agreements (SLA), and communications with front line partners, insurance agents and flood vendors. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to get into the details of processes, solve for root cause issues with urgency and identify opportunities for simplification. The ideal candidate will also be a catalyst for change management in a dynamic, regulated environment. Lead with energy and enthusiasm to deliver change. Works collectively with leaders, team members and stakeholders to sets a high standard for regulatory compliance and execution. Support the development and execution of a risk control framework.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the activities of a Loan Servicing Quality Control team responsible for quality control of pre-closing or closing tasks, loan monitoring, and loan servicing activities related to FDPA requirements

  • Engage stakeholders and internal partners associated with WLFO

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development within Wholesale Lending Operations functional area

  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of new and revised systems, policies, and guidelines

  • Oversee implementation of practices to ensure compliance with Wells Fargo legal, investor, regulatory, or business policies

  • Make credit decisions and resolve issues regarding performance of a business unit or functional area to ensure business objectives are met

  • Interpret and develop policies and procedures for functional areas with low to moderate complexity, and with accountability for special portfolio segments requiring focused management

  • Collaborate and consult with Wholesale Lending Operations peers, colleagues, and multiple level managers accountable for providing quality customer service to internal or external customers

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Wholesale Lending Operations

  • Mentor and guide talent development of direct reports and assist in hiring talent

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Transactions and Processing experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 2+ years of Leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong Analytical Skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience with financial services businesses in a regulated environment

  • Experience with pipeline management oversight

  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

  • Knowledge and understanding of Private flood insurance policies

  • Knowledge and understanding of National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) insurance policies

  • Knowledge and understanding of flood insurance policy requirements, contents value and appraisals

  • 2+ years of experience in Flood Disaster Protection Act (FDPA) compliance and process experience

  • 2+ years of quality control experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of real estate or commercial loans

  • Ability to review and interpret complex commercial loan documents

  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents

  • Experience reviewing insurance policy applications for completeness, accuracy, and acceptability of risk

  • Risk and regulatory compliance experience

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office software skills including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
