Job Description
Iowa Workforce Development is seeking applicants for the position of Labor Market Research Economist 2 (LMRE2) at our 1000 E Grand Ave., Administration office in Des Moines, IA.
Are you ready to join a team that is growing as a Labor Market Research Economist 2? In this role, you will measure, analyze, and report the availability and characteristics of the labor force. You will support labor market research projects which requires an eye for detail, organization, and skills and knowledge in statistics and economics.
Key Responsibilities
Analysis
Collect, analyze, display and report labor market data and research.
Perform complex analysis utilizing data from multiple sources to prepare written reports for the agency, policy makers legislators, economic developers, educators, and other stakeholders.
Prepare and deliver formal presentations to various stakeholder groups, tailoring presentations to each specific audience.
Research
Conduct specialized research using data for industries and occupations in Iowa.
Write reports and analysis for workforce research conducted across the State.
Represent the agency in work groups, consortia, partnerships, and conferences.
Survey
Successful candidates will design and implement workforce surveys.
Collect, enter, clean, code and analyze data resulting from surveys.
Outreach
The candidate in this role will assist with promotion, planning, and implementation of agency products and services.
Participate in economic development and workforce development conferences.
Travel as needed to make presentations.

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Hybrid telework and alternate work schedule opportunities for eligible classifications after 6-months of employment has been completed.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics; and two years full-time experience in statistical analysis or economic research;
OR
graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, and/or Economics;
OR
an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting one year of full-time work in statistical analysis or economic research for year (30 semester hours) of the required education to a maximum of four years;
OR
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time work as a Labor Market Research Economist 1.
