Individual will work both inpatient and outpatient Cardiac Rehab, weekends will be included as well. An Iowa licensed RN with current BLS is required.

JOB TITLE : RN - CardioPulmonary Rehabilitation

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: CardioPulmonary Rehabilitation

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Assumes responsibility and accountability for assigned patients (adult and geriatric). Works with considerable independence within policy and program guidelines. Provides professional nursing care incorporating the nursing process, the environment, technical equipment and other health care members. Works independently with limited direct supervision using the Nurse Practice Act, Mercy Medical Center policies, AACVPR guidelines, and professional judgment.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: (Some of these may be essential functions based on assignment)

· Assumes job responsibilities of other team members (i.e., exercise physiologists, cardiopulmonary specialists, respiratory therapists) during their absence.

· Contributes to community service activities related to cardiopulmonary disease.

· Acts as a resource for other staff members, participants, and students by providing orientation/education.

· Provides input for program maintenance and development.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

· Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.

· Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

· Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.

· Completion of an EKG cardiac monitoring class required.

· 2 years cardiac nursing/pulmonary nursing with EKG monitoring experience and arrhythmia interpretation required.
