Description of Job

Job Summary:

This position provides subject matter expertise to be used in testing modifications prior to implementation of such to the Colorado Benefit Management System (CBMS) and Program Eligibtlity and Application Kit (PEAK). CBMS is a statewide eligibility determination application for case programs (Adult Financial, Food Assistance, and Colorado Works) and Medicaid programs (Medical Assistance and Child Health Plan Plus). This application houses several tracks (e.g. Benefit Issuance, Client Correspondence, Periodic Reporting, etc.) which the UAT tester should be familiar with. PEAK is the online application system where the citizens of Colorado may apply for cash or medical benefits. Work within this position will continuously test enhancements to the system as well as ensure the system remains stable by doing regression testing on the system. The tester will write test scripts and scenarios with the intent to thoroughly test the functionality of the enhancements being made. These scenarios will be shared with the project owner and other Program Area staff to make sure the tests meet their needs as well. Using the defect tool, the tester will also ensure and bugs found during testing are resolved before certifying the project. lt is also the responsibility of the tester to rematn up to date on all changes that are made to the system through Release Trainings and system documentation.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Writing Test Plans, Test Scenarios and Performing Test Scenario Execution - 50%

  • Coordinate with Program Area and Business Analyst Teams to review business requirements For accuracy

  • Develop test scenarios in accordance with business requirements

  • Execute test scenarios to ensure appropriate business functionality

  • Report defects using the defect tracking tool; report defects appropriately to Program Area and Business Analysts throughout testing effort to ensure issues are resolved in accordance with business need

  • Coordinate with Program Area and County Testers to ensure adequate test analysis is performed

  • Maintain appropriate documentation of system and testing status

  • Attend project level meetings

HLBR, BRD, and TDD Collaboration to Assist in the Creation of Test Scenarios - 10%

  • Participate in Business Requirement Elicitation Sessions, Business Requirement Document (BRD) and Technical Design Document (TDD) walkthroughs

  • Work collaboratively with the Business Analyst to ensure the requirements are met within the Business Requirement Document.

  • Ask pertinent questions and participate in discussions on issues brought up in walk-throughs

  • Analyze the Technical Design Documents that come back from the vendor and gives input and any necessary feedback to the Business Analyst

Use HP Quality Center for Defect Tracking - 20%

  • Utilize the defect tracking tool to ensure defects are entered timely so that changes can be fixed and retested

  • Use generaI CBMS system knowledge and understanding of new requirements to ensure defects are inconsistent with system design and use

  • Research BRO and TDD and consult with appropriate staff to ensure the issue is a defect and not the system functioning as designed

Analyze Issues in CBMS and PEAK - 15%

  • Research user-reported defects to determine whether issue is the result of a system error or a training error

  • Verify that user-reported defects are resolved prior to changes being released into the CBMS Production environment

Additional Duties as Assigned - 5%

  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Work Experience

  • 2 or more years of experience in benefits management (CBMS preferred)

Education/Training

  • High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years county benefits experience

  • 2 years eligibility program experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • 2 years Data Retrieval with SQL tool

  • Knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)

  • Excellent communication and listening skills

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Determine time, place and sequence of testing. Includes prioritization of multiple tasks and projects

Strategic and Critical Analysis

  • Examining and evaluating Business Requirement Documents in order to create and execute test scenarios

Customer Service

  • As a User Acceptance Tester, put yourself in the role of a CBMS/PEAK/Mobile App user to ensure the user experience flows properly and without errors

Technology/Tools

  • Proficiency In Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of a SQL tool, understanding of Waterfall or Agile methodologies
