Generac Energy Services is a cutting-edge team that is working to provide end-to-end digital solutions and experiences for customers who are striving to manage increasingly complex portfolios of residential and/or industrial distributed energy resources and who want to leverage the power flexibility of their portfolio into energy markets and utility programs.

As a Software Engineer on the Energy Technology team, you will be part of a growing group of problem solvers who think outside the box and push boundaries to deliver innovative customer solutions. You will be focused on modernizing our software stack for the industrial IoT platform to enable customers to effectively monitor and leverage their distributed energy equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obsess over software performance and challenge yourself and others to deliver highly scalable, low latency, reliable and fast services

  • Collaborate with product, engineering and other software engineers on new feature design and rollout

  • Focus on the customer and think iteratively to drive value in each sprint

  • Explain complex technical concepts to customer support, product managers and other engineers

  • Have a bias for action and constructively identify problems and propose solutions

  • Work independently and with your team to deliver software

  • Share your high bar for quality and excellence by emphasizing coding standards, maintainability, scalability and testability

  • Challenge the status quo, engage in technical discussions, code reviews, and design docs to promote a culture of learning and constant improvement

Minimal Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent years of work experience

  • 3-5 years of non-internship software development experience with a solid background in the full stack

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 3 years of experience working with a cloud provider, preferably AWS or Azure

  • 3 years of experience programming with at least one language

  • Experience with at least one database and an understanding of database principles

  • Experience in design and architecture with a foundation in problem solving, design patterns and building software for scale

  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and SDLC

  • Passion for reliable, scalable, observable software with a strong sense of ownership

  • Naturally curious and growth oriented; enjoy staying on top of the latest technical trends

  • Contribute to opensource projects

Compensation:

Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role when based in Denver, Colorado is $95,000 to $118,000. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short- and long-term incentives. Hybrid work environment is supported, position locations available in Denver, CO.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
